Hannah Margaret Allen, University of Tennessee
Hannah Margaret is a senior majoring in journalism and electronic media and minoring in theatre at the University of Tennessee. She has written for The TennesseeJournalist, PopCosmo and Socially Active. She has also hosted and worked on shows at The Volunteer Channel, UT’s television station. She enjoys hearing people’s stories, photography, traveling, eating good food and blogging about it all. She joined the ICONN NewsStream in the Summer of 2011. Margaret Grigsby, University of Tennessee
Margaret Grigsby, graduate teaching associate in the School of Journalism and Electronic Media and the School of Communication Studies, received her undergraduate degree in JEM in 2005. Her current research focus is in mobile technology and digital communication. Margaret also teaches public speaking.
Ansa Varughese is a freelance writer and science reporter with an interest in ocean sustainability, wildlife conservation, and the politics of poverty in India.
She has written profiles, news features, and research stories for the science journal BioTechniques and for the student-run Stony Brook University newspaper The Statesman. Among the topics Varughese has covered are stem cell research, evolutionary biology and research misconduct. In one of her most widely-read pieces, Varughese investigated new developments in the field of neurobiology.
Currently, Varughese is working towards a Masters of Science in journalism at Stony Brook University. She is also a recipient of the 2011-2012 Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellowship, for which she is researching the convergence of two sciences: environmental science and genomics in an attempt to solve some of today’s most pressing environmental issues.
